About FinanceCore

FinanceCore is a small collection of free UK finance calculators for the 2026/27 tax year. Every calculator uses HMRC's published rates and thresholds, updated when the Budget or Autumn Statement changes them.

The whole site is client-side. Your inputs never leave your device — there is no backend, no analytics, no cookies. That means the tools work offline once loaded, and there is no data trail from what you enter.

FinanceCore is designed for the everyday moments when a quick, accurate answer matters more than a lengthy sign-up. For decisions with real weight — a mortgage, a redundancy negotiation, dividend extraction from a limited company — speak to a qualified adviser. The site is for guidance only and is not financial advice.

You can browse the full list of calculators from the homepage or read our latest guides on the blog.

What FinanceCore does

FinanceCore publishes free, self-contained calculators covering pay, tax, mortgages and savings for people in the UK. Each tool takes a few plain-English inputs and returns an instant estimate, worked out in your browser using the current tax year's published rates and thresholds. There's no sign-up, no email capture and no paywall.

Alongside the calculators, the blog explains how specific figures are worked out — for example, how the Personal Allowance taper works above £100,000, or how statutory redundancy pay is capped — so you can see the reasoning, not just a number.

How calculations are maintained

All rates and thresholds live in a single, typed configuration rather than being scattered across individual calculators. When HMRC, the Scottish Government, the Student Loans Company or another official body publishes new figures — typically around the Budget and at the start of a new tax year — that configuration is updated and every calculator that depends on it picks up the change automatically. See Calculation Methodology for how the maths itself works, and Editorial Policy for how figures are checked and corrected.

What FinanceCore cannot provide

FinanceCore cannot give you personalised financial, tax or legal advice. The calculators produce general estimates based on the inputs you provide and the rates in force at the time — they can't account for your full personal circumstances, employer-specific arrangements, or every edge case in tax law. For anything with real financial consequences, speak to a qualified, regulated adviser or accountant, or check your position directly with HMRC or the relevant government body.

Independence

FinanceCore is independently run and has no affiliation with HMRC, GOV.UK, the FCA, the Student Loans Company or any lender, bank, pension provider or financial institution. It is not a regulated financial adviser and does not sell financial products. Where a calculator links to an official source, that's simply the government or regulator publication the figures are drawn from — it isn't an endorsement in either direction.

Your privacy

Every calculation runs entirely in your browser. The numbers you type in are never sent to a server, stored in a database, or shared with a third party — FinanceCore has no backend to send them to. There are no user accounts, no analytics scripts and no tracking cookies. See the full privacy policy for details.

FinanceCore Editorial Team

The FinanceCore Editorial Team maintains the calculators and the blog, and checks the published figures against official UK government sources such as GOV.UK, HMRC guidance, the Student Loans Company and the Scottish Government. The team does not hold itself out as accountants, tax advisers or regulated financial advisers, and nothing on this site should be treated as a substitute for professional advice tailored to your circumstances.

You can see exactly which official source backs each calculator on the Data Sources page, and how to report an error or suggest a correction on the Contact page.
